2 remain missing after oil platform fire

NEW ORLEANS ?

The search continued Saturday for two missing workers after an oil platform fire in the Gulf of Mexico.

The platform, which is located about 25 miles off the Louisiana coast, is owned by Black Elk Energy.

Authorities said the blaze ignited when workers were using a torch to cut an oil line. The Coast Guard has launched an investigation into the incident.

Officials with Black Elk Energy said Saturday that four workers remained hospitalized.

Black Elk Energy President and Chief Executive Officer John Hoffman arrived at the platform by helicopter Saturday morning to conduct an evaluation with safety and investigative personnel.

The platform was not operating at the time of the fire.

Visual reports on Saturday indicated no sheen could be found on the water's surface.
