Following the announcement in February 2012 that Deeside College and Yale College would merge, in August 2013, the new Chair of the Shadow Board of Governors Mr John Clutton has announced the appointment of the Principal & Chief Executive Designate of the new College. Mr Clutton said ?Following a rigorous selection process, I am delighted to announce that current Deeside College Principal Mr David Jones has been appointed as the Principal & Chief Executive Designate for the merged College. The full shadow board of governors ratified the appointment at the meeting on the 14th November and we are delighted that we will be entering the merger with one of the most respected Principals in Wales at the helm. In Mr Jones we have found a dynamic leader with a clear history of success in further education management who will lead the new College with the same drive and determination for excellence that we have seen during his time at Deeside College.? The announcement was backed by Vice Chair Mr Ray Wells who added, ?We are laying the foundations for a College that will serve North East Wales for many years to come. It will educate & support skills development and employability for over 7000 full time students each year and employ over 1500 people.
